Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Japan Equity Research Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fundamental valuation as well as an understanding of technical analysis. The Analyst will assist with fundamental research of individual equities, the underwriting and understanding of macro themes, and will also aid in the IPO / secondary calendar to identify unique opportunities. Proficiency in Japanese is highly preferable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth fundamental analysis of Japanese equities, including financial statement analysis, financial modeling, industry research, and competitive positioning.
• Develop and maintain financial models to support investment decisions.
• Monitor and analyze the equity capital markets calendar, including earnings releases, corporate actions, and economic data releases.
• Prepare comprehensive research reports and investment recommendations.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and other analysts to develop and implement investment strategies.
• Communicate findings and insights effectively to the investment team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, CFA) is a plus.
• Proven experience in equity research, preferably focused on Japanese markets. If no prior Japanese experience, please be prepared to explain why this is the right opportunity for you.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling.
• Proficiency in Japanese is highly preferable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
